Oman restricts work visas for some foreign workers.

On June 24, 2018, the Ministry of Labor announced that the visa suspension was extended for six months (Ministerial Resolution no. 38/2018, January 2018. The suspension applies to 87 professional categories, including which include: Information Technology, Finance, Human Resources and Administration, Marketing, Insurance, Media, Health, Aeronautics, Engineering and Technical Areas. Permits previously issued will be exempt from suspension. On May 27, In 2018, the Ministry of Works announced in its ministerial resolutions No. 206/2018, 207/2018 and 208/2018 the extension for six months of the suspension of visas for positions in the Construction, Cleaning, Commercial, Carpentry Workshops, Metallurgy, Aluminum and Brick Factories.    This is an attempt to reserve jobs for Omanis in specialized areas. This nationalization strategy called "Omanization" aims to ensure a job for nationals, who currently represent 46% of the total population, compared to 44% of foreigners of origin mainly from the Indian Subcontinent. The Ministry of Labor will review these prohibitions every six months.
