Argentina. Elimination of Advance Import Affidavits (DJAI)

Argentina

After the lifting of exchange controls, the Argentine Government made official the elimination of the DJAI, the regime devised by the previous Government to authorize the entry of imports, and replaced it with a new "Comprehensive System of Import Monitoring (SIMI)". The DJAI functioned as a covert import control mechanism that, as of today, has been eliminated and will be replaced by the new SIMI system. The decision was published on December 22 in the Official Gazette through General Resolution 3823 of the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP). Importers must submit the information through the AFIP website, from where they must respond within a period of no more than 10 days. The declarations made through the Comprehensive Import Monitoring System (SIMI) will have a validity period of one hundred and eighty calendar days, counted from the date of their approval.
