China regulates salt imports
Spain has significantly increased its exports to China in salt 2017 thanks to the partial opening at the beginning of this year of a sector that leads to constitute a millenary monopoly in China. However, the latest revision of the treatment of salt in China published in january 2018 leaves the rights of production and sale of the same only designated corporations through the approval and certification for by local governments in order to improve security of supply of salt. Such a regulation does not mention foreign companies exporting to China which is creating a situation of uncertainty of legislation which is already having a real impact on trade flows. Since the adoption of this legislation, several european countries have suffered cancellations in their exports of salt to China. There is No record of spanish companies affected by this cancellation of contracts.
