Japan. Agreement with EU origin protected designations of olive oil

Japan is the first asian consumer of european olive oils. Indeed, 97 per cent of all oils imported from Japan of the european union, Spain the indisputable leader, with a stake in that market close to 60 per cent by 2017 and sales of 32.687 tons.

The forthcoming entry into force of the economic partnership agreement between the european union and Japan will make the protection of a large number of geographical indications of european food and beverages. Among them, are included eight relating to the spanish olive oil: oil Under Aragon, Antequera, Baena, Priego de córdoba, Sierra de Cazorla, Segura, Sierra Mágina and Siurana.
