Serbia, two new chapters are opened in the EU accession negotiations (26.6.2018)
The EU-Serbia Intergovernmental Conference held on June 25, 2018 agreed to open chapters 13 (Fisheries) and 33 (Financial and Budgetary Provisions) within Serbia's accession negotiations to the European Union. With these two, there are now 14 open chapters and 2 of them provisionally closed, out of a total of 35. It must be remembered that economic relations between the EU and Serbia are regulated by the EU-Serbia Stabilization and Association Agreement that came into force in 2013 and which provides for complete trade liberalization, with some exceptions for sensitive agricultural products, and certain regulatory harmonization. The negotiations for Serbia's accession to the EU allow the legislation of the candidate country to be progressively harmonized with that of the EU.
